Music/tech journalist & editor
In seven years of shaping MusicTech's editorial output, I've broken pivotal industry news, actively devised and delivered commercial campaigns from ideation to pitch deck to execution, interviewed the world's biggest music producers and gear brands, and represented MT and NME Networks at events and panels worldwide. I'm now solely maintaining editorial workflows that once demanded a larger team, from commissioning, writing, and editing MT's features, guides, interviews and reviews, to covering news, producing a podcast, and maintaining strong business relationships with loyal and prospective clients. Outside of MT, my byline has appeared in luxury print magazines, including Bentley, Cloud and Tower Revue, and I've contributed to music product blogs.
As MusicTech's sole editor, I'm responsible for almost all of the brand's published content. I also act as a commercial partner, developing pitch concepts and campaigns for brands, and an ambassador for MT at trade shows, client meets and networking events. With a pool of 20-plus freelancers and a news editor shared with Guitar.com, I bring readers the most compelling and factual information at the intersection of music and tech.
As Staff Writer, I wrote hundreds of news articles, produced two weekly interview features, published weekly videos to YouTube, and curated MT's social media channels. My news stories covered everything from Spotify's latest gimmick and Apple's newest MacBooks to new Native Instruments plugins and quote-pulls from high-profile producers.
Bylines for luxury and lifestyle titles alongside my day job — interviews and features for Bentley, Cloud and Tower Revue, plus over a year writing Nura's blog on music trends, technology and product content.
I honestly didn't expect to become so passionate about flipping burgers. But these burgers were to die for, and I loved the people I met there. I helped the owners level up the bar's social media presence and menu offerings (even started a Burger Of The Week — which was harder than it sounded) and we ended up being recognised as one of the best burger joints in the UK. I still miss those frantic, full-house Friday nights. If you ever go, I recommend the Danny Dorito.
Three friends and I realised that Bath was missing a club night that focused on disco and laid-back house. One night during the semester break, we got together and created Havana Breakfast Club: a DJ collective hosting pop-up nights at local venues, and streaming sunny-vibes dance music to YouTube in the morning.
We went all in on the retro/tropical aesthetic. We decorated venues, DJ'd on vinyl, spray-painted pineapples gold, hired a collage artist for our event posters, and took all our club photos on film.
We ended up getting booked as a collective in Bristol, London, and Bath, and had a lot of fun doing it.
